We're back from spring break and ready to work!! The students are now in a unit of study with poems... We are reading many kinds of poems to learn the different styles. We are creating our own poems after each style is modeled. Today we read a story " The Listening Walk" by Paul Showers. Then we took a listening walk of your own. This is where my job gets interesting...as an interpreter...I can tell the student/students that "The bird is singing" etc. But I seem to always have my digital camera with me so...we took a "SEEING" walk and I took many pictures of what the students see on the walk. When we went back to write the poem, the pictures were a great thing to have to stimulate memory. The student also could go more into depth about what was in the picture. The poems were really good!!
In the second picture...it is a jet in the sky, when the student didn't hear it, I took a picture of it. When the student saw the picture... the student got very excited and told me all about the jet. It is true!! A picture is worth a thousand words.
